What does archeologists do when they’re not at dig sites?

Perhaps a lame question, but I was just thinking they can’t always be digging and sorting stuff?

A friend of mine (who was an archeology major?) ended up working for the state for the highway department. Anything they find they have to have someone check, especially in deserts and mountains, so it’s an ok job for the right person.

Fight each other over which theory is correct. Give any a single tesseract and you have a villa, a temple, and a 1800 Victoria garden.

We hired one for a private tour of the Vatican last year while COVID temporarily halted his team’s work in Jordan.

While walking through the museum he stopped at a [vase/urn on a pedestal](https://imgur.com/a/vAY9Jnz) so we could look at it. On the inscription below the find was his name. He stood there with a well earned grin and explained that he and his team found it a few of years before.

The ones I’ve worked with were at a potential gold mine site in Nevada. They were there to check for any cultural artifacts or sensitive areas around the drilling locations. One area was found next to a drilling pad. While drilling the hole, the archeologist sat in her car keeping an eye on the area making sure it was not disturbed. She said she wasn’t allowed to say what the significance was.
