What does “deep breathing” do?

239 viewsBiologyOther

I personally have a deviated septum and year round allergies so maybe I’ll never experience it without medical help, but everyone I know claims that deeply breathing changes how you feel, activates some kind of mammalian response? Even lowers your heart rate and anxiety.

To me, personally, I quite literally feel the same, whether I’m anxious or not. I dont smoke or anything, so I’m lost on what’s actually happening.

Additionally to any other benefit deep breathing may physically have just taking a second or two and distracting your self in any way is going to make you way way less worked up basically no matter what else you’re doing.
