What does “deep breathing” do?

237 viewsBiologyOther

I personally have a deviated septum and year round allergies so maybe I’ll never experience it without medical help, but everyone I know claims that deeply breathing changes how you feel, activates some kind of mammalian response? Even lowers your heart rate and anxiety.

To me, personally, I quite literally feel the same, whether I’m anxious or not. I dont smoke or anything, so I’m lost on what’s actually happening.

It increases oxygen to your bloodstream and organs, lets the body know it is ok, no need to fight or flee
