Satiation is the opposite of hunger.
When you eat a lot of carbs, that drives your blood sugar up and that increases the level of a hormone known as ghrelin, which suppresses hunger. High blood sugar also leads to elevated levels of insulin, which tells the body to pull the sugar out of the blood. It’s fairly common for this process to go a bit too far, and when the blood sugar drops that make you hungry again. This effect does not happen for fat or protein.
