Wifi is a wireless way for computers and other devices to communicate with each other. You basically have one computer that broadcasts and receives data, and other computers or devices can connect to it. It’s generally used to grant access to the Internet.

Normally, when you access the Internet on your phone, your phone connects to a Satellite run by your phone company, who sends you the information you are asking for. They count that as “Data” and limit how much you can do.

But, you can instead access the Internet by connecting to a local computer that has its own Internet feed, using WiFi. So instead of connecting to a Satellite run by your phone company, you can connect to another computer and use their Internet access instead!
