What happens after dye pack explodes? Does the dyed cash go into trash? If so, does the bank replace and restore the same amount of money?

Dyed money can be returned to the Treasury. There is a lot of paperwork, and Secret Service investigation, involved. The money is replaced, and destroyed if the SS doesn’t want to keep it for evidence.
