Hospice is palliative (meaning focused on making your comfortable rather than healthy). People who go to hospice do not have any real chance of getting better, otherwise they would still be in a more conventional medical center. If some miracle occurs and a patient seems to get better spontaneously, they would eventually move out of hospice care.

At least in the USA, some insurance companies will only cover hospice for a certain period of time. If a patient runs out their hospice insurance allowance, either they have to pay for care out of pocket or will be forced to leave regardless of their wishes.
