What happens in the brain when we are confused?

Confused as in not understanding something. What goes on in the nervous system when we can’t make sense of something?

Like when a kid’s not understanding their maths homework. What’s preventing this? Something about the synapses? Neurotransmitters? ….?

you dont inherently know everything and have some “confusion block” preventing you from using it.

To learn something new, your brain has to physically make new pathways for that Thing. This process is slow and takes time, sleep, and practice. When someone is “confused” their brain physically does not have the required paths to do something yet.
