I’ve been quite curious lately to find out what happens the our blood after someone’s passing, does it thin or does it clot etc? I was also curious to know if the blood was something that can also be donated after death too like other organs can?
A bit of an odd question to ask but I’ve been interested to learn what happens to it.

Blood has an interesting fail safe: If it stops moving, it begins to clot relatively fast. When we die, our heart stops beating which stops the propulsion of blood through the vessels. The blood begins forming clots and using up a lot of the components as it does so. No, it cannot be donated after we die as it begins to separate and rapidly become poisonous due to acidic changes and byproducts of tissue death.
