Just a reminder that there are multiple countries that does not have landfills at all. It is completely unnecessary in a developed country and eco friendly alternatives are available, although expensive, the alternatives will pay themselves off in about 30-80 years. Everything is recycled (70-99.99% depending on material) the rest is burned at insane temperature that even ash burns twice, the gas is cleaned and burned again. The input is trash, water and sometimes wood to help with sustaining the fire. The output is water/steam, co2, electricity and usable raw materials, nothing else.
