Okay so the blood in the ear gets cold from the cold air. Now the cold air is cold so cold. It starts to freeze the blood but wait the blood is warm. We are warm blooded to prevent this.

Now we can learn from cold blooded animals that they are not warm blooded. In humans blood vessels restrict and tightens there by hurting.
