What happens when you encrypt an image? How does this affect it?

Normal file encryption stores the file in a way that makes it very hard to read (decrypt) without the key (like a password). It’s not i mathematically mpossible, but it can be safely considered as so.

When the file is decrypted, it is identical to the original file that was encrypted. An image just like a file, therefore an image will look no different.

However, for some image specific encryption methods this may not be the case, but I am not aware of any in common use.
