Diarrhea tends to be more acidic and have a higher concentration of other irritants. The skin on your perineum is more sensitive to this than the lining of your intestines in terms of pain. Irritants to your intestinal lining causes undigested food to move along faster— which causes the water in stool not to be reabsorbed like it usually is and the result is diarrhea.
