What is Azure Landing zone?

With Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or any of the other smaller Cloud Providers, you could go today and create an account, spin up some VMs, and deploy some software to them. And that’s what a lot of companies do.

A landing zone is a setup where, before you go deploying anything substantial to the cloud, you set up an environment that will be easier to manage as you put more and more in it. This can be things like managing accounts/projects/tenants for different projects, setting up guard rails to prevent certain things you don’t want happening, setting up budgeting rules to prevent accidental overspending, etc.

So an Azure Landing Zone is just a whole bunch of setup in Azure as an administrator that will make it easier to manage a larger Azure environment that has many users/teams all deploying their own stuff in Azure all together.
