What is Forensic Intervention ?

My understanding is it is the psychological/mental health treatment of criminal offenders.

Forensic psychiatry and psychologist treat people who are in prison, secure units and the wider community. They also do assessments for the courts (when you here on the news about a psychiatrist giving their opinion on someone on trial, it will be a forensic psychiatrist).

Forensic intervention would be specific to management and treatment and targeted at reasons for offending and to try to stop it happening again, and not include assessments for the courts or other reasons. The most common type of person would be violent criminals and sex offenders. But there will be others too

I’m happy to be corrected on anything if I’ve got the wrong idea
