What is ideal mechanical gain?

I understand that mechanical gain is fp/fa, but wtf is ideal mechanical gain? I don’t understand how it applies to real life situations. Edit: Or how it’s formual relates

Ideal mechanical gain is when there is no energy loss in a system. An ideal system. Its not achivable but you can use it to calculate the efficiency of s system.
