Simply: when I experience something that nobody else does (see, taste, hear, feel, etc), that’s psychosis. It can also be called “a break from reality”
The idea of psychosis has very unclear boundaries, because human experience has a lot of variety naturally. We tend to use the term most when the condition is disruptive to health.
It also depends on what most people agree is real – if most people have the same experience and agree that it is real, regardless of how real it actually is or is not, then it is no longer psychosis.
