A gravitational singularity, spacetime singularity or simply singularity is a condition in which gravity is so intense that spacetime itself breaks down catastrophically. As such, a singularity is by definition no longer part of the regular spacetime and cannot be determined by “where” or “when”.
A point where some property is infinite or irreversible. The property can be gravity for a black hole or intelligence for an AI.
Normally, you have both a path in and a path out – and you can see the path ahead.
With a singularity, you have a discontinuity that prevents you from seeing to the other side of it. It is ‘singular’ because there is only a path in – you cannot see the path out.
