Tuatara are the only remaining members of the Rhynchocephalia and the last of the order Sphenodontia. They are the third survivor of their line, with snakes and lizards. Their ancestors lived concurrently with but separately from dinosaurs. Their last immediate relative died out about 60M years ago.

As far as what they think of humans? In my experience they don’t give a shit about humans.
