luminecence- creation of light
Sonoluminecence is a phenomenon where bubbles in a liquid generate light when hit by sound waves. The sound waves cause the bubble to get bigger, then the pressure from the liquid causes the bubble to collapse in on itself. For some reason (we’re not entirely sure why) this collapse creates light.
This is a phenomenon that can actually be seen in nature with certain kinds of shrimp. They clamp their claws so quickly that they create bubbles that collapse in on themselves and create light. However, unlike sonoluminecence created in a lab, this light is not visible.
