My friend recently told me that ecstasy is molly and meth mixed, which would make molly just molly and i guess more pure. Depending on what you’re looking for each could be better than the other. But I was always under the assumption that they are basically two names for the same thing, and when i googled a little i was confused with what i found.

Ecstasy is a pressed pill that contains molly (MDMA in crystalline powder form) mixed with a binding agent and often food coloring. That’s how it is commonly defined in my country at least, maybe it’s different in different countries. Sometimes pills sold as ecstasy pills do contain other chemicals, such as speed or meth or more dangerous chemicals. Those are considered dirty pills and not genuine ecstasy. Pill Reports is a website where people can report the content of pills so you can find out if your pills are dirty or clean. It’s no guarantee though and it is better to test pills or have them tested (not by ingestion of course).
People do say that, and it’s a misconception based on real concerns. At least in Australia, ecstasy refers to pressed pills, and molly or MDMA is usually used to refer to the crystal (or powder, but tbh I avoid powder, no reason, I’m just not as comfortable with it). And in pills its a lot easier to cut and hide additives, amphetamines being the most common because they’re relatively cheap uppers. Where as if you have MDMA crystals it’s a lot easier to tell the quality from sight alone, and if it’s cut with meth it’ll break down into shards, rather than pebbles. You should test all your drugs, but crystals are much more likely to be clean, and a lot easier to tell by sight alone. So a lot people do avoid ecstasy pills, and treat them all like they’re tainted or dirty, even though it may not necessarily be true. Hell, I haven’t taken an ecstasy pill since I was a teenager, for that reason.
