Sound is vibrations in the air. The pitch is the frequency, how many vibrations there are every second. For example, middle C is 262 vibrations per second, called 262 Hz.
An octave is a doubling in frequency, so the C above middle C is 262*2=524 Hz. If you think about it as a wave, the peaks of the 2 C waves line up, which is why they sound similar.
A key is a set of notes(pitches) that sound nice together.
A scale is an order of the notes in a key that sounds nice.
