What is the difference between using cold air from air conditioning and cold air from the heat side of the dial?

I have a 2002 Dodge Neon if anyone needs a reference to the air dial, since other cars don’t work the way I prefer to have this explained

When you turn the heater down to its coldest setting then you are turning off the heating element and just running the fans. So the air you get through the vents is just outside air. If you turn on the air conditioning then the car will use engine power to cool the air so it becomes colder then outside air and dryer as well.
