What is the feeling that we get after we’re unexpectedly startled by a very loud noise?

I had my laptop’s sound/volume turned on yesterday and the Outlook calendar event sound played at a really high volume. It startled me and I didn’t feel quite right for probably 15-20 minutes afterward. Just felt a little “dazed” and almost even a little nauseous. What was I feeling exactly? How do I make it go away quicker?

Most likely an Adrenaline spike, a defensive mechanism to make you react to danger. If you haven’t had anything that’s scared you in a while, you’ll feel more affected by it.
