What is the most efficient way to hold a cigar so it burns the slowest? And why?

buy a decent cigar…4-10 bucks prolly…hand rolled, long filler!…. nicaraguan or honduran are popular…light it good all around the head…take nice easy drags on it..enjoy! should last up to an hour….(robusto is a popular sized cigar)
Vertically, with the burning end at the top – that’d keep the hot air moving away from the rest of the cigar, so that it would not pre-heat it and speed up combustion.
