Wavelength of an wave simply means length of a wave. It is distance between two consecutive peaks of a wave.
Apparently, waves looks like a long object with transverse shape. Different radiations like infrared, light have different sizes of their waves but same pattern of shape which is transverse. So, to know the length of a single wave in a waveform, we use the term wavelength which is different for all types of waves ( of light, infrared, or gamma rays ). For example, wavelength of visible light wave is 380 to 700 nm and wavelength of infrared wave is 700 nm to 1mm.
