Couldn’t fitness, and nutrition all fix the issue of fat loss the natural way? Reason being because other animals in the wild don’t need liposuction

takes a long time to lose obese levels of fat. some people prefer to have it directly sucked out of their body. if their lifestyle doesn’t change it’s not going to be much long term good of course.. but for some it gives a head start. now that they’re lighter they’re more motivated to looks after it / eat well / exercise

Diet and exercise reduction fat all over the body, and it’s not really possible to target specific problem areas. Liposuction allows a person to “spot reduce”, so they can remove fat in just a couple of areas.

The question is what you define as “need”. Humans don’t “need” liposuction, but they have invented the procedure, and since it has it’s use cases and is available, people utilise it. Like a lot of things humans made. Think of soap, for example. Scrubbing yourself with water and maybe sand or a sponge or something also cleans you. Other animals in the wild don’t need soap. But here we are washing our hands with it because it… works quite well?

Whether liposuction fixes the issue of fat loss is a whole different story. So far, obesity is an epidemic we haven’t found a “cure” for. Yes, it’s simple in theory: eat less, eat healthier, work out. In practice – not so much. If it were that simple to achieve, people wouldn’t be concerned about or struggling with loosing weight. The issue is complex, it is entangled with mental health, socio-economic status and the economic reality of highly processed foods and all the implications thereof. For some people, a liposuction might work or bring short-term results or help someone overcome body issues. For others, liposuction is nothing more than a beauty procedure to get rid of some fat in places it’s not welcome (while sometimes then putting it to a different place…). The reasons are probably very different among clients.

Here’s the perspective for the *usual* liposuction thought process: Over the years you’ve gained some fat where you don’t want it. You have disposable income. You either buy exercise equipment and commit to months if not years of arduous habit building OR schedule a surgery to remove the fat in an afternoon. Pretty simple choice for those with the money.

Still though, I’d bet even most wealthy people do go for the natural weight loss route.

In front of you is a bag full of $100,000. Now you could just pick it up—but wouldn’t working for a year at a middle income job just “fix the issue the natural way”?
