What is the science behind snorting a drug like coke?

Ex-drug user here! So, I was always told that snorting the drug is always a better, faster, way to get high (compared to orally using the drug). What’s going on biologically here? Also, why don’t they prescribe medicines nasally if the drug absorbs into your system better or faster?

The blood vessels in your nose and gums are very close to the surface. The drug can diffuse in through there, getting right into the blood stream.

That’s also how chewing tobacco works.

Smoking has them enter the blood through the lungs instead.
