Afaik, urticaria is hives. Hives are kinda like bug bites, where there’s a raised area and it can be itchy. Sometimes they get really big though, and hives can melt into each other to make a huge one

Usually urticaria is caused by allergies. Chronic hives are due to a constant exposure to the allergy, and usually they can stop if you remove the allergen.

As an example, I get pretty severe hives if I get exposed to milk, peanuts and tree nuts. The nut allergy hives are part of a reaction called anaphylaxis, but the milk usually has the hives without the anaphylactic shock. These hives are itchy, can last as long as the milk is in my face/neck area (like if I had been eating it), are usually forming around where the milk was touching my skin (like around my mouth).
