what makes dishwater slimy

I’m a let iit soak overnight kinda guy most the time. Ive lived in various places over my lifetime. Where i am now is the only place where my soak has turned slimy. What makes the slime? And why is it only at this house and none of the others even though ive lived about 2 miles away from where i currently am and that place never developed slime.

That’s a [biofilm](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biofilm) that bacteria and other microorganisms can form. It’s basically the microbes building a city for themselves.

If it forms that quickly, there might be certain microbes in the water supply so they’re getting a head start. This could be the case if the hot water heater is set to a low temperature that allows microbes to survive, or if the cold water pipe is close to a heat source somewhere and turns into a bit of a breeding ground if warm water sits in the pipe for a long time.

Not sure whether it’s cause for concern in your case, but it may be worth looking into.
