Two possible causes: “floaters” and “flashes”.
Floaters are small bits of protein or other junk floating around in the clear gel inside your eyeball (which is called the “vitreous humor”). These are a natural part of having eyes, and people usually develop floaters as they age, but can have them even as children.
“Flashes”, aka photopsias, are little misfiring optical sensors in your eye. Sometimes this is caused by illness, but most of the time (especially in children) it’s just from putting pressure on the eye. If one day you suddenly start seeing a lot of flashes or see them continuously, you should contact a doctor so you can see an opthalmologist, because there may be a serious medical condition affecting you.
