What’s the deal with intimate hygene gels?

What is the specific purpose of them? How do they differ from normal shower gels? Why do women need/should use them (because I’ve only seen them advertised to women) and do men need/should use them?

It’s for the outer folds of the vulva. The inside of the vagina is of course self-cleaning.

But just like any crevices or folds on the body – sweat can get trapped between the outer folds and emit odors which water simply doesn’t always wash away, same as with any body part. Many people in this thread will shame people with vaginas for buying these kinds of products because all they know is random internet discourse about bad products and studies focused on improper use (I.e. internal use).

I bought it after going on a crusade to pamper literally every single part of my body. The one I use (lactacyd) gives a nice minty feeling and is so good at keeping away the smell of sweat that I legit feel fine going 2 or 3 days without showering (in emergencies or while traveling).

Sure, there are some shitty products which can fuck up your pH, but others really can get the job done. Wanting to not smell like old sweat is a human desire, not just for women. Tmi, but I use it for my ass too. To each their own.
