I notice I yawn more too during these calls and immediately feel less cloudy after. Could this be similar to what’s felt during a college lecture?

This is still being studied and isn’t fully understood but one contributor is audio quality. Poor quality audio requires you to put more effort into listening. It requires a hightened level of focus compared with in-person conversation.
That’s not the only reason of course but it’s one of them
