This is called acid reflux. Acid from your stomach travels up through your digestive tract backwards from the typical direction that food moves in, resulting in the sensation that you “threw up a little.” Clearing your throat or burping again can cause the acid to retreat back into the stomach.
Acid reflux can occur for a variety of reasons, including overeating, eating acidic foods, or having abnormalities in the muscles that are meant to keep your stomach acid from coming back up your esophagus.
