Where do snails go, when it’s not raining?

They hang out near the roots of plants and other places that are permanently moist. When it rains they can wander a little further and graze places that are normally too hot and dry for them.

If it gets too cold or dry, they’ll find a cozy spot and seal up the shell to wait for better conditions. Many species hibernate through winter and/or summer droughts like this.
