Sometimes when you go to the beach and get water trapped inside your ears, what happens to the water, does it get absorbed in the canal or the ear somehow expels it out.

Your ear canal is lined with wax which prevents the water from being absorbed. Something has to break the surface tension for the water to leak out because of the surface tension and the small size of your ear canal. It’s stuck in there like water in a straw if you put your thumb over the top. It could eventually leak out or you can add something that breaks the surface tension like alcohol or you can wick it out with a q-tip.
