Why all site’s auto-detect is really bad

Pretty much all sites I’ve been in always render video as 240p when auto-detecting when my internet is more than enough to stream 4k HD even.

The video providers have an incentive to give you a quality below what’s possible with your connection because it lowers their traffic and thus their cost.
