Why are birds so damn loud in the morning?

It’s something called dawn chorus. Apparently, it’s mostly male birds being territorial, trying to attract mates, or calling to their flock.
I’m going to guess that the morning hours are quiet enough that there’s little competition (much to the chagrin of other creatures who hate mornings).
