Why are comedians sometimes considered the saddest people, or at least those who are able to see the most cynical side of life?

Comedians see the world differently then most people. They can see the irony in life. Even question,”why they hell do we do that”. Then make a joke about it. Look at Bill Burr, the dumbest things upset him but that’s why he is so funny.
Comedy is at it’s heart an attempt to make people happy. It’s not surprising that the very saddest among us to have an even stronger urge to want to make themselves and others happy.
Well first of all it takes a lot of insight in life to be able to make jokes about everything. They know a lot about the pain of life.
Secondly, they’re always expected to be happy. People don’t realize that comedy and standup comedy is a role that you play, it’s not all of your being. Nobody is happy all the time, but of comedy actors and standup comedians it is often expected that they are. This can make them super lonely.
