Why are crocodile and alligator snouts different shapes? Do they serve different purposes?

Alligators jaws are broader, due to a larger portion of their diet consisting of turtle as compared to crocodiles which largely eat fish. Of course there is overlap, but from a very general point of view, that’s why.
