Why are eyes so recognisable? Like on photographs when anonymity is being kept, a black strip blacks out the eyes but the rest of the face is visible. How does this stop the person being recognised just because their eyes are covered?

we’re really visual animals, and really communicative animals, and we’ve evolved to transmit and receive a ton of information through eye contact. We’re just built for it.
That’s probably why we have such stark whites and pupils too – so others can know where we’re looking!
