Why are fruits on trees always cold in the center?

Water has a very high specific heat capacity; it takes quite a lot of energy to raise its temperature. Fresh fruits have a high water content and are therefore buffered against the temperature of the air, they would be more likely to feel cold compared to the surrounding environment (and your warm mouth).
