Because it’s working with 2D images and not 3D models. Perhaps this years Oscar-winning movie is in the training set.

This is actually no longer correct for the most part. Older AI art models did struggle with hands as little as a few months ago, but most models newer than about 5 months generate hands reasonably well.

I have a machine that outputs a number.

Guess what the next number is? You know it outputs numbers but can’t predict it. You know it’s probably not -8282 or 282829. You don’t know why I chose those numbers. The same thing happens with AI. It sees long skinny tan sausages but doesn’t know how hands work. It doesn’t know how to draw hands.

P.S. The sequence was the collatz conjecture
