Why are Jeeps stopping and starting at every intersection

It’s a feature. My car has it too, basically when you’re at a red light the engine stops to save you gas and when you put your foot on the gas the engine starts again. This could also be to create a lower impact on the environment.
Its very strange at first, and you can turn it off in most cars, but from what I’ve read there are a lot of positives to leaving it on.
