Why are our current laws of physics not able to explain the universe fractions of a second after it has formed?

The universe was a very very tiny, very very hot, **quantum** soup. We’re still just barely scratching the surface of quantum mechanics, so we’re not 100% sure what really went on during that period of time. We’re moving toward it, though!
