Why are our senses heightened in the evening/night?

It seems like I can watch videos on lower volume, hear more sounds coming from my computer etc. I’m wondering if it’s just me or is there any explanation?

Likely: less stimuli to process.

Possibly: evolutionary adaptation as many human predators are nocturnal (eg wolves, large cats, other people using cover of darkness and sleeping tribemates as opportunity)

I took biopsychology in college and that included circadian rhythm – our 24-hr body clock. It said that our peak hour of the day was 8 p.m. I always remembered that because it added – you know, just when you’ve ordered your first martini. lol

There is no background noise, (cars, people etc) so basically it is not your sense … this is happening because it is quiet outside
