They live in an extreme environment where calories are very scarce. Most predators are very risk-averse, injury can mean death from starvation. So they’re very disinclined to hunt things they’re not familiar with.
Predators in extreme environments can’t afford to be so picky. If they actually come across a potential meal, they won’t pass it up easily.
Just look at the extreme adaptation deep-sea fish have gone through to make this possible. Some deep-sea fish are capable of swallowing animals bigger than they are whole.
