Why are so many national pizza chains from Michigan?

May just be dumb luck, but also proof that market competition drives all to be better to survive. Midwest also tends to have middle of the road tastes, ie. many consumer products are first tested in places like Ohio before rolling out nationally. So might just be that they happened to be founded in the right place to hit the right marks (good enough, cheap enough, marketing that connects with customers) to be broadly popular.
