Why are so many tech guys of Indian origin

I’m not complaining at all. They’ve saved my ass when it comes to tech problems more times than I can count. For every tech problem, there’s an obscure video on youtube by an indian man with a thick accent that solves the problem. They’re also the ones that have entire forums about rooting phone brands that aren’t well known and such, as well as the ones that care to create cracked versions of software that nobody wants to pay for. Why is that?

First and foremost 1 in 7 people on Earth are Indian, so there’s a lot of Indians doing every job imaginable. It just happens that we have to interact with a lot of Indian tech support over the phone vs other jobs like Bus drivers, chefs, and construction workers that don’t really have an impact on North American life.

India has a very strong tech education system and the lower cost of labor means that lots of companies have spent decades out sourcing tech support and development work to India.

As more tech jobs got sent to India, the demand for trained personnel increased so India set up a lot of school programs to train developers + techs which encouraged even more companies to out source work.

India has a good public school system in part due to the British Empire and a society which believes in education as a way of improving your status in life. India is also a relatively young and populous country so lots of the kids went into computers and IT in their education specialties, these people are now in the jobs market and selling their skills wherever they are needed and since there a large number of them in India many are going overseas for better money.

Probably because something like 1 in 7 people is Indian.

It’s a really big (populous) country with a strong tech sector
