Why are there clocks still made with the “ticking” noise, and not all silent?

Some may prefer that noise as they’ve grown used to it. Otherwise, grandfather and pendulum clocks are still made in small amounts due to their aesthetic qualities.

Cheaply made analog clocks can overtime get loud due to a lack of grease or dirty grease on the gears.
